Ban on Heavy Vehicles on Roads during Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2009

This is to inform members that heavy vehicles will be banned from ALL roads for FOUR days during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival in 2009. The ban will take effect on September 18-19 and 26-27, 2009. The ban is part of the efforts of Government to reduce road accidents during the balik kampung rush. The ban will only be applicable to all roads in Peninsular Malaysia and not in Sabah and Sarawak.
The Road Transport Department (RTD) has agreed to provide FMM MEMBERS with a from manufacturers’ premises special exemption for vehicles carrying cargo for EXPORT to seaports and airports during the period when the ban is in force. To obtain exemption from RTD, FMM members are required to apply for the exemption using the attached form and submit to FMM Secretariat via fax: 03-62741266/ 7288 or e-mail: andy@fmm.org.my before September 4, 2009. Company’s name, address and contact details should be clearly specified in the form. All applications for exemption should be supported with trade documents including Shipping Confirmation / Bill of Lading / Delivery Order or other export documents. Approval letters will be issued by RTD directly to successful applicants.
The following are the categories of restriction on the heavy vehicles during the Hari Raya
